Shelter
Become operates based on the belief that all children have the right to develop within a safe and caring environment. Unfortunately, extreme poverty, disease and war, are prominent barriers that prevent children from growing up as healthy and safe, often lacking one of the most basic elements of survival, which is shelter. In past and current projects, Become collaborates with local organizations to establish new children’s homes, and lends support to existing homes for vulnerable children. Within these improved or new facilities, Become maintains appropriate standards of safety, hygiene, and care for the children they serve. This effort includes appointing local staff members as caretakers for the children, providing them with care and support.

Become assists children that come from a variety of disadvantaged backgrounds including orphans, street children, children with disabilities, and children from families which, for various reasons cannot meet the basic needs of their children. Become assesses the needs of these children, emphasizing the importance of creating safe, sustainable shelters for them. We prioritize a family-based approach and a community-based approach, while appreciating the fact that in certain circumstances and context, out-of-home care is required.
