Our work

Become works with international and local partner organizations in developing countries to initiate, maintain, and support community owned projects that work to provide safe and stable environments for vulnerable children. All programs run according to local and national governments' standards of practice and laws related to children's rights and care.

We work directly with communities to understand their needs, assess local resources in place and how those needs can be met, and finally, design projects that aim to meet those needs in a sustainable manner.

Become approaches its work in a holistic manner, using the five fields approach to assess the needs of communities at large, and individual children in particular. We function with the understanding that in order for children to strive, they must have access to a safe living space, education, and an opportunity to pursue higher education and career training in the future.

Accordingly,
Become has participated in the construction of housing and medical facilities, and the improvement of children’s homes and schools. Become also works to ensure that children living in the communities where it operates have adequate clothing, a nutritious diet, and access to good quality medical services.
The organization also has two main educational projects; Come True in Uganda and From Streets to Scholars in Kenya.

Beyond working to provide a safe living space for vulnerable children, Become continues to work with these children to provide need and merit based scholarships so that they are able to continue their education beyond primary school, reaching secondary school, and eventually having the opportunity to receive a college or university education and/or job training for a future career of their choice.

Become helps the children they work with realize their potential, and use the opportunities they have to give back to their communities through volunteerism and participation within their community.
