Community

Become believes that the involvement of the community is crucial for the growth and development of children, as they learn from the knowledge, values and dynamics of the community to which they belong.

As part of Become’s approach, the projects include participation, integration and engagement of community members, while building on local assets, resources and knowledge. Within this collaborative framework, we strive to identify issues of concern related to orphans and vulnerable children within the communities we are engaged with, in order to create viable solutions, and increase the community's ability to effectively improve the challenging conditions faced by children.

Mutual cooperation and self-help initiatives are key components of efforts to improve the well-being of vulnerable children. All our projects are accomplished through partnerships and collaboration with community-based organizations, and are owned and managed by members of the community, thus ensuring their viability and sustainability. Our interventions also emphasize community volunteerism whenever possible.

In addition, one of the goals of our programs, especially with formal education scholarships and vocational training, is to empower communities by assisting youth members, who will later assist their communities as strong and motivated individuals.
